Excerpt from the farewell mail from Krishna Kumar, our macroeconomics professor
economics, like real life, has its share of ambiguities, fuzziness, and dead-ends. but as john steinbeck wrote in his beautiful novel, "sweet thursday," "...the clarifying leap springs from the rich soil of confusion, and the leaper is not unfamiliar with pain." what i or anyone else can hope do in a short time is only rake this soil. the leap is yours to make.
be bold. be irreverent. shift those graphs. good luck.
My reply...
Its very rare that I come across a person who is so staunch in his views and so passionate in what he believes, that he actually has the power to make others see things in the right light...you have made a classical economist of me. Governments should try to improve the social conditions...but should just watch the markets from outside...nothing more...
I can aver that I will do my bit in trying to promote free trade and the other classical ideas...in any which way I can...always...
Thanks a ton professor...
And I mean every word in that...Would be hard pressed to find another professor...or for that matter another individual...who believes so strongly in what he does or what he stands for...and who has the ability to inspire a large number of individuals to do the same...
I for one...am always going to try to shift those graphs...always...
Once again...thank you professor...
